GREEN BAY, WI–
“That is how Cam Ward does it!” said ESPN’s Jesse Tessitore as Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward started his spectacular performance against the Duke Blue Devils with a 34 yard touchdown pass. This game was one of many that Ward had that put him on the map of many as he threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns against the Blue Devils.
Cam Ward will make sure you know his name. He has indisputably made one for himself on the field. Yet, he has done so in the unlikeliest of ways. Ward only received one offer his senior year of high school in West Columbia, TX from the University of the Incarnate Word out of San Antonio. He transferred to Washington State in 2022 to follow former UIW coach, Eric Morris. Cam took his talents to the University of Miami in order to improve his draft stock and to capitalize on NIL in 2024. With his time in Miami being his magnum opus, he showed what being a quarterback is all about as he dominated in the orange and green. Ward finished the season breaking the Division I career touchdown record and as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. He now finds himself as the projected number one pick in this year’s NFL Draft. So with the kid from Coral Gables as the star of this year’s draft class, where will Cam Ward find himself this fall?
The Tennessee Titans are coming off of one of their worst seasons in franchise history. The team finds themselves with the first overall pick in this year’s draft. This sets the organization up to take a player that can lead a new charge. With this pick, the Titans can get the superstar they desperately need to catapult them back into relevancy and contention. Enter Cam Ward. Tennessee’s biggest need is a quarterback. Ward is an exciting, fresh, young talent and he’s just what they need. Ward threw for 4,313 yards last season with 39 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. For Titans fans, this isn’t the most exciting buzz around the quarterback. Analysts have started to compare Ward to former quarterback and Titans legend Steve McNair. To hear that someone like McNair could be coming to Nashville is electrifying. Ward has the potential to bring this team back to greatness and make Titans football great once again.
Ward showed out at Miami’s Pro Day on March 24th. Titans executives and scouts naturally were there to see their potential new quarterback show up and out. Ward plays in a headspace that seems unorthodox. He plays with a “nonchalant” mindset that surprisingly works and that the football world has taken notice to. Some believe that the Titans beginning to build around Ward already by strengthening the offensive line. With a strong line, the Titans allow for Ward’s cool headed play to hopefully shake out and put them back on the rise. Ward possesses a relentless work ethic and is one who puts in the work without letting the hype get to his head.
“I play football. That’s the only thing I want people to know me as. A football player. When they search up Cam Ward, it says American football.” – Cam Ward to Shedeur Sanders after asking him to make a song together
Ward has his mind set on the game alone. He remains humble and is thankful for each opportunity. He works hard and gets the job done, no questions asked. He doesn’t hold back though.
“If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember that you’re the same team that has to play me for the rest of my career and I’ll remember that.” – Cam Ward on teams that do not draft him
He wants the league to know that he has arrived and is hungry to run the game.
As a Titans fan, I couldn’t be more over the moon at the thought of Cam Ward being our new quarterback. The kid is no doubt the most pro-caliber quarterback in the draft class and I feel confident with him eventually as QB1. It is time the Titans had a franchise quarterback again. The Titans have consistently tried to do so and this time, it feels like destiny. I have full confidence that Ward could be the man that could save this team and I fully believe he is in the picture of Tennessee’s first Super Bowl win. I can only wait and hope for his name to be called on the draft stage in Green Bay on April 24th. The times are changing in the Music City and the drafting of Cam Ward is to be the start of it all. It’s a new era of Tennessee Titans football, people. Who’s ready to be a witness?
