“I feel so unmotivated and empty sometimes, and all I do is eat and sleep to fill the void inside of me. Any advice?”
Oh, dear friend…do I have some words for you.
I am always in a state of lethargy ATLEAST 3 times a week…which isn’t the best. I often don’t know i’m in this state until after the fact. I think about what I could have been doing and how I could have used my time better; I think of all the things that could have been done in those moments. I’m either, like you, eating or sleeping or even just on my phone.
I don’t feel like doing anything.
When those moments do arise, I do three key things to get me motivated and to have a reason to get up and get out! Hopefully these will help you as much as they help me. If they don’t, please don’t hesitate to ask for help from a friend, parent, or just from anybody who is willing to be there for you.
- The first thing I do is stretch. As odd as it may seem, getting the body physically awake can make such a difference in your mental. You’ll feel better and physically be ready to do whatever you need to do. A few jumping jacks or a couple squats can get your blood pumping!
- Writing in my journal. Writing is a gateway to release all the things flying around in your head. Sometimes that’s what holds you back the most. Your “inner critic” will always hold you back. WRITE! Release those plaguing thoughts and start your mind fresh and new. Trust me…this will help a lot.
- Treat yourself. A quick reward for what you have accomplished can enable you to do even more than what you’ve already accomplished. It’s a known fact that rewards can motivate you to do more and be better at whatever task at hand. Who doesn’t like a good treat? Maybe some ice cream for Jack’s or maybe a loaded tea from Ole Brook Nutrition! Whatever it may be, TREAT YOURSELF. You deserve it.
