Long Time No See

Welcome back to What’s Cooking with Callie! I would first like to acknowledge our current circumstances as people who live in a society. Congratulations! For many, this has been a terribly difficult year riddled with much tragedy, chaos, and uncertainty, but we have survived! This time last year, the presence of the pandemic was fresh—the hurt was something new, the pain sort of unfamiliar. But after months of seemingly experiencing the same day over and over and over again, and after months of carrying an impossible amount on top of a pandemic, we have made it: the final nine weeks of the school year.

And I am proud of you! Seriously, professionalism aside: you are so swag.

Anyway, I am back from my hiatus to share with you all more food content before I graduate from this platform…forever. Wow, just yesterday I was typing away at my computer, figuring up my very first What’s Cooking with Callie article!

Callie’s rad Recommendations

Come here often? To the Phoenix, I mean?

Well, if you are one of those people who drives to Popeye’s or Wendy’s everyday, you are missing out. Come on—you would rather spend money on greasy fast food than a meal made by our fabulous food service staff? I say this a lot, but the campus has reach a unanimous agreement that the cafeteria ladies are some of the coolest, most revered staff on campus. Anyway…come on down to the Phoenix and eat with some friends! Make some memories, form some relationships, and enjoy good food before our campus is split in half. Yes, in merely weeks seniors will receive a diploma and juniors will become seniors! Woah, that is so wicked, am I right? Time flies by fast when you eat in the Phoenix ;).

Well, what are some upcoming meals that would convince an MSA student to abandon a fifth block nap? I got you covered. Callie’s Rad Recommendations never lies.

Here are some foods you do not want to miss:

Thursday (4/22):

Lunch: I recommend the baked pork chop!

Dinner: Hot chicken salad is back, baby! Never tried it before? I suggest you do it now before you leave for the summer and never forgive yourself…

Friday (4/23):

Dinner: It is Taco Friday, my friend! Get some festive fiesta rice to celebrate the end of the week! Also, the pinto beans are always an excellent accompaniment.

Saturday (4/24):

Lunch: Grab some buffalo hot wings or a teriyaki meatball sub, MACARONI AND CHEESE, and the always-reliable-always-amazingly-stellar chocolate chip cookie!

Sunday (4/25):

Lunch: Oh my goodness, the red beans and rice is always immaculate…like, how?

Tuesday (4/27):

Dinner: I always look forward to having Asian-inspired cuisine on the menu. It is nice to have some stir fried rice and beef-n-spicy Asian sauce for dinner. 10/10 would recommend.

Thursday (4/29):

Dinner: Chicken enchiladas, hot dogs, nacho bites, tater tots, refried beans, and a rice krispie treat are calling your name…

I could recommend so much more—because the meal calendar for these two developing weeks does not disappoint—but I will save my words for perhaps an upcoming fabulous food review article! I hope these few days I highlighted sound appetizing, as I only picked what sounded the most delicious to me.

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope the rest of your day is totally tubular. Make sure to eat at least two sufficient meals a day, drink plenty of water, and take care of yourself! Pro tip: on the weekends, you can eat ice cream and go on a walk after dining in the Phoenix. Anyway, it has been so much fun to dive back into What’s Cooking with Callie after over a month’s worth of stressful assignments.

I love you all, and I hope you remember to love yourself because that is definitely important!
