Recently, the members of POSE released a website for their upcoming fashion magazine, so I sat down with leader and Fashion editor, Stephyne Weathersby, to learn more. Here’s what she had to say:
Q1: What was your inspiration for POSE? It has always been a dream of mine to start my own magazine. POSE is a fashion organization, but since we cannot have fashion shows due to the pandemic, I thought a magazine would be a great extension of POSE. The inspiration for this release is self-reflection and self-love. We wanted to introduce the school to the idea that beauty has many definitions.
Q2: What was it like leading up to the release?
Leading up to the release was fun, creative, stressful, and a lot of planning was involved. There was also a lot of meetings and ideas. I absolutely love the POSE members because they are so creative and talented! I truly feel everyone wants to be part of creating this magazine. I am very grateful, and I know they get tired of me because I can be a perfectionist, but we aim for nothing but the best.
Q3: What is MSA Fashion Week going to look like? Do we have new dates for that?
MSA Fashion week is going to be something fashionable, colorful, and different than what MSA is used to but a good way. The new dates are still being determined because we want this to be something the juniors and seniors can be included in, especially since POSE consists heavily of both. We don’t want anyone to be left out, especially for the surprise we are planning!
Q4: Do you feel like POSE is fulfilling its purpose?
At our meetings, I feel like everyone has a good time, and it’s a very open space. Everyone is free and in that way it’s fulfilling its purpose, but we have such a long way to go.
Q5: What can students expect in POSE’s next release?
Students can expect to be inspired and amazed (hopefully) with the next POSE release.
